A Real Pageant Child Contestant Account
A real pageant child contestant that’s who I was. Me! a seven year old girl from Brooklyn. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that, I would be a pageant child contestant. Well, all that changed in the Summer of 2007, when my pageant child contestant journey began. It all started with my grandma taking me to a Namiss pageant that her friend’s daughter was participating in. It was so glamorous.
The lights, the excitement, girls of all ages wearing beautiful gowns and walking on stage ; all looking like princesses. How I secretly wished I was up there too; when my grandma leaned over and whispered “you see Briana, that could be you up there.” And, my pageant child contestant journey started. I was going to become a real pageant child contestant.
Namiss and I quickly became friends. I liked the idea that their pageant was not on television, there was no swimsuit competition, and that there was no wearing of makeup.
Later, I learned that people from popular television shows, modeling agencies, and other professions would be the Judges. A real pageant child contestant story is a result of my participation, observations, and feedback which I received from questions asked and the little things I picked up on during my pageant days.
I participated in NAMISS for four years and realized that winning the crown or title is neither hard nor easy. Still, you have to want to be in the pageant. Once pageant participants know why they are in the pageant , once they know what to do, and do what is expected then; their chances of walking away with the crown are great. But , for some of the children who are forced to be in pageants that’s not the case. It’s just a waste of time because they just participate to please mom or dad.
So, If you are looking to become a real pageant child contestant, to get the ball rolling, you will need a pageant application and you don’t need a referral. Just go to NAMISS to select your state and fill in the pageant application. Don’t worry! They never reject anyone.
This child beauty pageant is not about outward beauty nor is it about being a genius. However, education and the way one presents themselves are important areas worth developing and we all want to be our best at whatever we do. Therefore, it is important to practice healthy habits, stay in school, and learn as much as one can. If your grades are bad, you need to work harder. It’s never too late to catch up. Just get serious and start applying yourself.
Although, good grades are not required to become a real pageant child contestant; you should always strive for the best and do your best because education opens many doors. “Never put all your eggs in one basket”; Be a lover of learning and always be on top of your game. Always believe and cherish yourself and be kind and compassionate to others.
I entered beauty pageants in much the same spirit most people enter politics – with high ideals and ambitions. Similarly, I had to make some adjustments here and there along the way.
